“I really appreciate the safe, nurturing space...you provide. You...have created a wonderful vehicle for helping women carve out their particular, transitional path. I loved the weekend...the trust in your guidance and holding the container. Such a pleasure to see good teachers teaching.”

You are not alone!
Our workshops explore and contemplate the authentic expression of your life transition in a community of women facing similar choices and challenges.
A unique process; an experiential, safe, confidential, and supportive environment.
In our workshops we utilize a process that we have designed and developed which involves:
- identifying old and new passions
- getting rid of old injunctions and assuming permission
- looking at what is unknown in a safe environment
- concrete and psychological forms of letting go
- acknowledging losses
- identifying practical obstacles
- getting to WHAT NEXT
The tools we use to facilitate the wonderful groups of women with whom we have been privileged to work include:
- group discussion
- time alone
- private writing
- listening to particular music
- poetry we read to you
- and more.
Helping you create new ideas and possibilities
We know that "RETIREMENT" is no longer limited to the outdated assumption of "the rest of my life of non-working" since we live longer and have a great deal of vitality, energy, and wisdom at 50, 60, 70, 80, and beyond.
Our attitude toward growing older is shaped by the meaning we choose to give it.
Our workshops empower you to:
- Embrace the journey
- Explore your priorities
- Express your creativity
- Consider new possibilities
- Re-define your "work"
Both workshop facilitators are clinical social workers and working artists, specializing in helping Women Over 50 create new ideas and possibilities. Inspired by our shared interest in women's development through the life span and our awareness of this particular "hidden transition" for which we have no role models we are, along with you, pioneers in this search.
“Thank you for a very stimulating and meaningful weekend. (You) gave us lots to think about! You're excellent facilitators.”
Jeanne Ballantine,
Professor of Sociology
Exploring the issues
The universal issues involve:
- feelings of isolation ("I'll lose my working community of peers")
- fears of loss of external structure ("What will I do with my time?")
- questions about self stemming from a loss of the well-worn belief that what one does is who one is
- financial worries, realistic or not, surfacing in old un-worked-through forms stemming from cultural and familial attitudes toward money.
These need sorting out in order to separate the diffuse anxiety from whatever the reality may be.
Come, Participate, Learn, Share, Be Courageous,Take Yourself Seriously, Acknowledge Your True Worth.
The cost of our workshops is: Washington DC area - $325; Denver area- $350; other areas $425.
